XVM 5.0.0 for World of Tanks 0.8.8 in active development

XVM 5.0.0 for World of Tanks 0.8.8 is currently in active development.

Recently we have made experiment with the replacement of module XVM-stat.exe to Python. The experiment was called XPM and it proved to be excellent.

The main pros for users:

  • Requirement of Dokan, xvm-stat.exe and Microsoft net.Framework 3.5 dissapeared. Next XVM version will work out of the box without any additional programms.
  • You can just download one archive and play. It does not matter what OS you are using, it will work on MacOS or Linux the same as on Windows.
  • It will work on FAT32 drives too.

For XVM developers it’s a cleaner way to write code. We’ll able to use better decisions instead of workarounds (like Dokan).

Also new XVM versions will provide API for developers of other modifications. It will simplify the process of developing other mods and improve their compatibility with the XVM.

Since the new approach has worked well, In the next release XVM we plan to use Python instead Dokan+xvm-stat.exe.

Currently we are actively developing the next version of the XVM 5.0.0 for World of Tanks 0.8.8. If you want to test current(unstable) version please read this topic on official XVM support forums.

Once the new version will ready, it will appear on the official download page.
